What Took Place Between Abu Jahl and al-ʿAbbas on Account of the Dream

[ نِسَاءُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَلُمْنَ الْعَبَّاسَ لِلِينِهِ مَعَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ ] فَلَمَّا أَمْسَيْتُ، لَمْ تَبْقَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ إلَّا أَتَتْنِي، فَقَالَتْ: أَقْرَرْتُمْ لِهَذَا الْفَاسِقِ الْخَبِيثِ أَنْ يَقَعَ فِي رِجَالِكُمْ، ثُمَّ قَدْ تَنَاوَلَ النِّسَاءَ وَأَنْتَ تَسْمَعُ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَكَ غِيَرٌ لِشَيْءِ مِمَّا سَمِعْتَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: قَدْ وَاَللَّهِ فَعَلْتُ، مَا كَانَ مِنِّي إلَيْهِ مِنْ كَبِيرٍ. وَاَيْمُ اللَّهِ لَأَتَعَرَّضَنَّ لَهُ، فَإِنْ عَادَ لأكْفِينَّكُنَّهُ

Translation

✧ [The women of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib reproach al-ʿAbbās for his leniency with Abū Jahl] When evening came, no woman of the Banū ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib failed to come to me and say: "You have allowed this wicked, vile man to assail your men, and then he proceeded to assail the women while you were listening, yet you showed no jealousy over anything you heard." He said: I said: "By God, I did so; nothing significant came from me toward him. By God, I will confront him, and if he returns to it, I will suffice you against him."
