The Account of ʿAtikah bt. ʿAbd al-Muttalib's Dream
[ الرُّؤْيَا تَذِيعُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ ] ثُمَّ خَرَجَ الْعَبَّاسُ، فَلَقِيَ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، وَكَانَ لَهُ صِدِّيقًا، فَذَكَرَهَا لَهُ، وَاسْتَكْتَمَهُ إيَّاهَا. فَذَكَرَهَا الْوَلِيدُ لِأَبِيهِ عُتْبَةَ، فَفَشَا الْحَدِيثُ بِمَكَّةَ، حَتَّى تَحَدَّثَتْ بِهِ قُرَيْشٌ فِي أَنْدِيَتِهَا
Translation
✧ [The dream becomes known in Quraysh] Then al-ʿAbbās went out and met al-Walīd b. ʿUtbah b. Rabīʿah, who was a close friend of his, and he mentioned it to him and asked him to keep it secret. Al-Walīd mentioned it to his father ʿUtbah, and the matter spread in Makkah until Quraysh talked about it in their assemblies.
