The names of those who attended the ʿAqabah
[ مَنْ شَهِدَهَا مِنْ بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ تسمية من شهد العقبة الثانية منهم ] وَمِنْ بَنِي سَالِمِ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ، وَهُمْ بَنُو الْحُبُلِيِّ - قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: الْحُبُلِيُّ: سَالِمُ بْنُ غَنْمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْحُبُلِيَّ - لِعِظَمِ بَطْنِهِ -: رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ سَالِمِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، وَهُوَ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ: رِفَاعَةُ: ابْنُ مَالِكٍ، وَمَالِكٌ: ابْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ جُشَمِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ وَهْبِ بْنِ كِلْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَعْدِ بْنِ هِلَالِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ جُشَمِ بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ بُهْثَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غَطَفانَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ قِيسِ بْنِ عَيْلَانَ، حَلِيفٌ لَهُمْ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا، وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ خَرَجَ إلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مُهَاجِرًا مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ إلَى مَكَّةَ، فَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: مُهَاجِرِيٌّ أَنْصَارِيٌّ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: رَجُلَانِ. [ مَنْ شَهِدَهَا مِنْ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَمِنْ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ: سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ دُلَيْمِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ أَبِي خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ طَرِيفِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ، نَقِيبٌ وَالْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خُنَيْسِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ لَوْذَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ وُدَّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ جُشَمِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ، نَقِيبٌ، شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَأُحُدًا. وَقُتِلَ يَوْمَ بِئْرِ مَعُونَةَ أَمِيرًا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: أَعْنَقَ لِيَمُوتَ. رَجُلَانِ. ( قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ: الْمُنْذِرُ: ابْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَنْشٍ ). قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: فَجَمِيعُ مَنْ شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ مِنْ الْأَوْسِ وَالْخَزْرَجِ ثَلَاثَةٌ وَسَبْعُونَ رَجُلًا وَامْرَأَتَانِ مِنْهُمْ، يُزْعِمُونَ أَنَّهُمَا قَدْ بَايَعَتَا، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ، إنَّمَا كَانَ يَأْخُذُ عَلَيْهِنَّ، فَإِذَا أَقْرَرْنَ، قَالَ: اذْهَبْنَ فَقَدْ بَايَعَتْكُنَّ
Translation
✧ [Those of the Banū Sālim b. Ghanm who were present at it — naming those of them who were present at the second ʿAqabah] And from the Banū Sālim b. Ghanm b. ʿAwf b. al-Khazraj — they are the Banū al-Ḥubulī. Ibn Hishām said: Al-Ḥubulī is Sālim b. Ghanm b. ʿAwf. He was only called al-Ḥubulī because of the largeness of his belly —: Rifāʿah b. ʿAmr b. Zayd b. ʿAmr b. Thaʿlabah b. Mālik b. Sālim b. Ghanm. He was present at Badr, and he is Abū al-Walīd. Ibn Hishām said: It is also said: Rifāʿah: Ibn Mālik, and Mālik: Ibn al-Walīd b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Mālik b. Thaʿlabah b. Jusham b. Mālik b. Sālim. Ibn Isḥāq said: And ʿUqbah b. Wahb b. Kildah b. al-Jaʿd b. Hilāl b. al-Ḥārith b. ʿAmr b. ʿAdī b. Jusham b. ʿAwf b. Buhthah b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ghaṭafān b. Saʿd b. Qays b. ʿAylān, an ally of theirs. He was present at Badr, and he was among those who went out to the Messenger of God ﷺ as an emigrant from Madinah to Makkah. So he was called a Muhājirī Anṣārī. Ibn Hishām said: Two men. [Those of the Banū Sāʿidah b. Kaʿb who were present at it] Ibn Isḥāq said: And from the Banū Sāʿidah b. Kaʿb b. al-Khazraj: Saʿd b. ʿUbādah b. Dulaym b. Ḥārithah b. Abī Khuzaymah b. Thaʿlabah b. Ṭarīf b. al-Khazraj b. Sāʿidah, a naqīb; and al-Mundhir b. ʿAmr b. Khunayth b. Ḥārithah b. Lawdhān b. ʿAbd Wudd b. Zayd b. Thaʿlabah b. Jusham b. al-Khazraj b. Sāʿidah, a naqīb. He was present at Badr and Uḥud. He was killed on the day of Biʾr Maʿūnah as a commander for the Messenger of God ﷺ. He is the one of whom it was said: "He stretched his neck to die." Two men. (Ibn Hishām said: It is also said: Al-Mundhir: Ibn ʿAmr b. Khanash.) Ibn Isḥāq said: The total of those who were present at al-ʿAqabah from the Aws and the Khazraj was seventy-three men and two women among them. They claim that the two women had pledged allegiance. The Messenger of God ﷺ did not shake hands with women; he would only take the pledge from them, and when they affirmed it, he said: "Go, for I have accepted your pledge."
