Abū Wahb's kinship to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

Translation

✧ [Abū Wahb's Kinship to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ] Ibn Isḥāq said: Abū Wahb was the maternal uncle of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ father. He was noble, and about him an Arab poet says: If only at Abū Wahb's I had made my mount kneel, its saddle would have gone forth from his bounty not disappointed— to a fair one of the two branches of Luʾayy b. Ghālib, when their lineages are traced in the forelocks— one who refuses to accept injustice, who delights in generosity; his two grandfathers occupied the midst of the branches of the best. Great is the ash of his cooking-pot; his bowls he fills with bread, over which are heaped things like mantles. [The Division of the Kaʿbah among Quraysh, and the Share of Each Party of Them] Then Quraysh divided the Kaʿbah into portions. The side of the door belonged to Banū ʿAbd Manāf and Zuhrah. What was between the Black Corner and the Yamānī Corner belonged to Banū Makhzūm and tribes of Quraysh who joined them. The back of the Kaʿbah belonged to Banū Jumaḥ and Sahm, the two sons of ʿAmr b. Huṣayṣ b. Kaʿb b. Luʾayy. The side of the Stone belonged to Banū ʿAbd al-Dār b. Quṣayy, to Banū Asad b. al-ʿUzzā b. Quṣayy, and to Banū ʿAdī b. Kaʿb b. Luʾayy—and that is the Ḥaṭīm.
