Sirat Ibn Hisham 169
Account of the wells of the clans of Quraysh in Makkah
Translation
✧ [Budhdhar and he who dug it] Hāshim b. ʿAbd Manāf dug Budhdhar, which is the well near al-Mustandhar, Khatm al-Khandamah at the mouth of the Shiʿb of Abū Ṭālib. They claimed that when he dug it, he said: “I will surely make it a source of water for the people.” Ibn Hishām said: The poet said: May Allah water the waters whose places I knew— Jurāb, Malkūm, Budhdhar, and al-Ghamrā.
