The account of Rabi'a b. Nasr, king of Yemen
Translation
✧ Ibn Isḥāq said: He sent for them, and Saṭīḥ came to him before Shiqq. He said to him: “I have seen a vision that terrified me and alarmed me, so tell me about it, for if you get it right, you will get its interpretation right.” He said: “I shall. I saw a live coal come out of darkness, and it fell upon the land of Tihāmah, and it devoured every creature with a skull.” The king said to him: “You have not erred in anything of it, O Saṭīḥ. So what do you have regarding its interpretation?” He said: “I swear by what lies between the two ḥarrahs of serpents: the Abyssinians will certainly descend upon your land, and they will possess what lies between Abyan and Jurash.” The king said to him: “By your father, O Saṭīḥ, this is indeed grievous and painful to us. So when will it be? In this time of mine, or after it?” He said: “No, rather after it by a time, more than sixty or seventy years passing.” He said: “Will that dominion of theirs last, or will it be cut off?” He said: “No, rather it will be cut off after some and seventy years; then they will be killed and will depart from it fleeing.” He said: “Who will take charge of that slaying of them and expelling them?” He said: “Iram b. Dhī Yazan will take charge of it, going out against them from ʿAdan, and he will not leave a single one of them in Yemen.” He said: “Will that authority of his last, or will it be cut off?” He said: “No, rather it will be cut off.” He said: “Who will cut it off?” He said: “A pure prophet, to whom the revelation will come from before the Most High.” He said: “From whom is this prophet?” He said: “A man from the descendants of Ghālib b. Fihr b. Mālik b. al-Naḍr; kingship will be among his people until the end of time.” He said: “Is there an end to time?” He said: “Yes, a day in which the first and the last will be gathered, in which the doers of good will be happy and the doers of evil will be wretched.” He said: “Is what you tell me true?” He said: “Yes, by the twilight and the dusk, and the dawn when it is fully formed: what I have told you is true.”
