The support of the angels

[ نُصْرَةُ الْمَلَائِكَةِ يوم حنين ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبِي إسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ، ( أَنَّهُ حُدِّثَ ) عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، قَالَ: لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ قَبْلَ هَزِيمَةِ الْقَوْمِ وَالنَّاسُ يَقْتَتِلُونَ مِثْلَ الْبِجَادِ الْأَسْوَدِ، أَقْبَلَ مِنْ السَّمَاءِ حَتَّى سَقَطَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقَوْمِ، فَنَظَرْتُ، فَإِذَا نَمَلٌ أَسْوَدُ مَبْثُوثٌ قَدْ مَلَأَ الْوَادِيَ، لَمْ أَشُكَّ أَنَّهَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ إلَّا هَزِيمَةُ الْقَوْمِ

Translation

✧ [The aid of the angels on the day of Ḥunayn] Ibn Isḥāq said: My father Isḥāq b. Yasār related to me, (that he was told) on the authority of Jubayr b. Muṭʿim, who said: I saw, before the defeat of the people while the people were fighting, something like a black striped cloak coming from the sky until it fell between us and the people. I looked, and behold, it was black ants scattered about, which had filled the valley. I did not doubt that they were the angels. Then there was only the defeat of the people.
