What occurred between Quraysh and Banū Jadhīma of preparation for war and then reconciliation

Translation

✧ [Poetry of a Jadhīmah boy fleeing ahead of Khālid] A boy from Banū Jadhīmah said, while driving his mother and two sisters before him, fleeing with them from Khālid's army: Let down the trains of the woollen cloaks and slow down; The gait of shy women, as if they were not startled. If women are protected today, then they will be protected. [Rajaz verses of boys with Banū Jadhīmah when they heard of Khālid] Boys from Banū Jadhīmah, called Banū Musāḥiq, recited rajaz when they heard of Khālid. One of them said: Yellow-white one of the flank has come to know, One possessed of small flocks and of camels holds her. I shall avail today as a man avails. The other said: Yellow one who distracts the bride has come to know; A bite from her does not fill the breastbone. I shall strike today a hard and rough blow, The blow of those who cause she-camels to kneel at the place of their halting, ponderous ones. The other said: I swear that no lurking lion with a mane, Coarse of paw-pads on a cold morning, Gloomy of countenance, with reddish whiskers, Growling between a thicket and hard ground, Fierce in devouring men alone, Is more truthful in the morning than I in courage.
