The Seizure of the House by the Kinānah and Khuzāʿah and the Expulsion of Jurhum

Translation

✧ The domination of the people of Kinānah and Khuzāʿah over the House and the expulsion of Jurhum [The transgression of Jurhum in Makkah and the expulsion of them by Banū Bakr] Then Jurhum transgressed in Makkah, and they deemed lawful violations of the sanctity. They wronged those who entered it from other than its people, and they consumed the wealth of the Kaʿbah that was gifted to it. So their affair became weak. When Banū Bakr b. ʿAbd Manāt b. Kinānah and Ghubshān from Khuzāʿah saw that, they resolved upon war against them and their expulsion from Makkah. They gave them notice of war, so they fought, and Banū Bakr and Ghubshān defeated them and expelled them from Makkah. In the Jāhiliyyah, Makkah would not tolerate in it any injustice or transgression, and no one transgressed in it except that it expelled him. So it was called al-Nāssah; and no king who deemed its sanctity lawful desired it except that he perished on the spot. It is said that it was not called Bakkah except because it crushed the necks of the tyrants when they perpetrated something in it.
