The first person slain whose blood-money the Messenger paid on the day of the conquest

Translation

✧ [The first slain person for whom the Messenger paid blood-money on the day of the conquest] Ibn Hishām said: It has reached me that the first slain person for whom the Messenger of God ﷺ paid blood-money on the day of the conquest was Junaydab b. al-Akwaʿ. The Banū Kaʿb killed him, and he paid blood-money for him with one hundred she-camels. [The Anṣār's fear that the Messenger would remain in Makkah and the Messenger's reassurance to them] Ibn Hishām said: It has reached me from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd that when the Prophet ﷺ conquered Makkah and entered it, he stood upon al-Ṣafā calling upon God, with the Anṣār surrounding him. They said among themselves, 'Do you think that the Messenger of God ﷺ, now that God has opened His land and his town to him, will remain in it?' When he finished his supplication, he said, 'What did you say?' They said, 'Nothing, O Messenger of God.' He kept pressing them until they informed him. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'God forbid! The living is your living, and the dying is your dying.' [The falling of the Kaʿbah's idols at the Messenger's gesture] Ibn Hishām said: Someone I trust among the people of transmission narrated to me in a chain of his, from Ibn Shihāb al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of the conquest upon his riding camel. He circumambulated upon it, and around the House were idols fastened with lead. The Prophet ﷺ began pointing with a stick in his hand at the idols and saying, 'The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed falsehood is ever vanishing.' He did not point at any idol among them in its face but it fell on its back, and he did not point at its back but it fell on its face, until no idol among them remained but had fallen. Tamīm b. Asad al-Khuzāʿī said about that: And in the idols there is a lesson and knowledge for one who hopes for reward or punishment.
