The affair of Fadak in the account of Khaybar
Translation
✧ The matter of Fadak in the report of Khaybar [the Messenger's making peace with the people of Fadak]. Ibn Isḥāq said: When the Messenger of God ﷺ had finished with Khaybar, God cast terror into the hearts of the people of Fadak, when they learned of what God Almighty had brought upon the people of Khaybar. So they sent to the Messenger of God ﷺ to make peace with him on the basis of half of Fadak. Their messengers came to him at Khaybar, or at al-Ṭāʾif, or after he had arrived in Madinah, and he accepted that from them. Thus Fadak belonged to the Messenger of God ﷺ exclusively, because it was not taken by charging horses or camels. The naming of the group of the Dāriyyīn to whom the Messenger of God ﷺ made a bequest from Khaybar [their lineage]. They are the Banū al-Dār b. Hāniʾ b. Ḥabīb b. Numārah b. Ibn Hishām said: It is also said: ʿAzzah b. Mālik, and his brother Murrān b. Mālik. Ibn Hishām said: Marwān b. Mālik. Ibn Isḥāq said: Fākih b. Nuʿmān, Jabalah b. Mālik, Abū Hind b. Barr, and his brother al-Ṭayyib b. Barr — the Messenger of God ﷺ named him ʿAbd Allāh.
