The falling of ʿĀʾishah's necklace and her staying behind to search for it
Translation
✧ [The Messenger's turning away from ʿĀʾishah in the incident of the slander (peace be upon her)] Then we arrived in Madinah, and I had hardly stayed before I fell ill with a severe illness, and none of that reached me. The talk had reached the Messenger of God ﷺ and my parents, but they did not mention to me of it little or much, except that I perceived from the Messenger of God ﷺ some lack of his usual kindness toward me. When I was ill, he used to be compassionate to me and kind to me, but he did not do that for me in that illness of mine, so I perceived that from him. When he entered upon me while my mother was with me nursing me—Ibn Hishām said: she is Umm Rūmān, and her name is Zaynab bt. ʿAbd Duhmān, one of the Banū Firās b. Ghanam b. Mālik b. Kinānah—he said: "How is that one of yours?" and did not add to that.
