Account of the poetry recited on the day of Uḥud
[ رَجَزُ عِكْرِمَةَ فِي يَوْمِ أُحُدٍ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَقَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ فِي يَوْمِ أُحُدٍ: كُلُّهُمْ يَزْجُرُهُ أَرْحِبْ هَلَا وَلَنْ يَرَوْهُ الْيَوْمَ إلَّا مُقْبِلَا يَحْمِلُ رُمْحًا وَرَئِيسًا جَحْفَلَا
Translation
✧ [The Rajaz of ʿIkrimah on the Day of Uḥud] Ibn Isḥāq said: And ʿIkrimah b. Abī Jahl said on the day of Uḥud: Each of them urges him on, “Arḥib halā!” And they will not see him today except advancing, carrying a spear and a commander of a huge army.
