✧ The people complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the drought. He ordered a pulpit to be placed for him in the prayer area, and he promised the people a day to go out. Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out when the edge of the sun appeared and sat on the pulpit. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said, “You have complained about the barrenness of your gardens and the withholding of rain from its usual time. Allah has commanded you to supplicate to Him and promised to answer you.” Then he said, “Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. There is no god but You; You do what You will. O Allah, You are Allah; there is no god but You. You are the Self-Sufficient, and we are the poor. Send down rain upon us, and make what You send down strength and provision for us for a time.” Then he raised his hands ﷺ until we saw the whiteness of his armpits. Then he turned his back to the people and reversed his cloak while still raising his hands. Then he faced the people, descended, and prayed two rak'ahs. Allah caused clouds to form, and they thundered and flashed with lightning, and it rained by Allah's permission. He did not stay long in his mosque until the torrents flowed. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the people's clothes soaking wet, he laughed until his molars showed, and said, “I bear witness that Allah has power over all things, and that I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger.”
