✧ I watched the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a prayer he performed until it was near dawn. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, Khabbab came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom, you prayed a prayer tonight the like of which I have not seen you pray." He said, "Yes, it was a prayer of hope and fear. I asked my Lord for three things; He granted me two and withheld one. I asked Him not to destroy us with what He destroyed previous nations, and He granted me that. I asked Him not to let an enemy from outside us prevail over us, and He granted me that. I asked Him not to divide us into factions, and He withheld that from me."
