✧ Whenever he went out on a military expedition, his last contact was with Fatimah, and whenever he returned from an expedition, his first contact was with Fatimah, ؓ. He set out for the expedition of Tabuk, and Ali, ؓ, was with him. Fatimah stood and spread a mat in her house, hung a curtain on her door, and dyed her head-covering with saffron. When her father ﷺ returned and saw what she had done, he turned back and sat in the mosque. She sent for Bilal and said, 'O Bilal, go to my father and ask him what is keeping him from my door.' He went to him and asked him. He ﷺ said, 'I saw that she made something new there.' He told her, so she tore down the curtain, picked up the mat, discarded what she was wearing, and put on her old clothes. Bilal came to him and told him, so he came to her and embraced her, saying, 'Be like this, may my father and mother be your ransom.'
