✧ While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was distributing something, Dhu al-Khuwaysirah came to him — a man from Banu Tamim — and said, "O Messenger of Allah, be just." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Woe to you! Who will be just if I am not just?" Umar b. al-Khattab said, "O Messenger of Allah, permit me to strike his neck." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave him, for he has companions whose prayer one of you would consider insignificant compared to their prayer, and his fasting compared to their fasting. They recite the Qur'an, but it does not go beyond their collarbones. They pass through Islam as the arrow passes through the game. One looks at its arrowhead and finds nothing on it; then one looks at its binding and finds nothing on it; then one looks at its shaft and finds nothing on it — that is the wood; then one looks at its fletching and finds nothing on it. It has preceded the dung and blood. Their sign is a black man, one of whose upper arms is like a woman's breast or like a piece of flesh quivering. They will emerge at a time of division among the people." Abu Sa'id said, "I bear witness that I heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I bear witness that Ali b. Abi Talib fought them and I was with him. He ordered that man to be sought, and he was found and brought until I saw him matching the description of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he described."
