✧ 'Abd Allah b. Sahl and Muhayyisa b. Mas'ud went to Khaybar for some need of theirs. They separated, and 'Abd Allah b. Sahl was killed. His brother 'Abd al-Rahman b. Sahl and his cousin Huwayyisa came to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: 'Abd al-Rahman spoke, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "The elder, the elder." So they both spoke about the matter of their companion. The Prophet ﷺ said: "You may establish your claim to your companion—or he said: your slain man—by fifty oaths from among you." They said: O Messenger of Allah, we did not witness it; how can we swear about it? He said: "Then the Jews will clear themselves with fifty oaths from among them." They said: O Messenger of Allah, they are a disbelieving people. He said: So the Prophet ﷺ paid his blood money from his own resources. Sahl said: One day I entered an enclosure of theirs, and a she-camel from those camels kicked me.
