✧ Abu Musa sought permission to enter upon Umar three times, but permission was not granted to him, so he turned back. That reached Umar, who said, "What made you go back?" He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'When one of you asks permission three times and is not granted permission, let him return.'" He said, "Bring me proof of this, or else..." Hammad said, "He threatened him." He said, "So he went away and entered the mosque, came to the gathering of the Ansar and told them the story of what he had said to Umar and what Umar had said to him. They said, 'None will stand with you except the youngest of us.' So Abu Sa'id al-Khudri stood with him and testified. Umar said to him, 'We do not suspect you, but the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a serious matter.'
