✧ A man came from Najran to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wearing a gold ring, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him and did not ask him about anything. The man returned to his wife and told her, and she said, "There is something about you. Go back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and throw away the ring." When he sought permission, he was granted it, and he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who returned his greeting. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, you turned away from me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You came to me with a live coal from the Fire in your hand." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, then I have brought many coals." He had brought ornaments from al-Bahrayn. The Prophet ﷺ said, "What you have brought is not sufficient for us at all, except as the stones of the harrah are sufficient, but it is the goods of the life of this world." The man said, "Excuse me before your companions so they do not think you are angry with me for some reason." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rose and excused him, and explained that what had happened had only been because of his ring.
