أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ بْنَ السَّبَّاقِ زَعَمَ
أَنَّ جُوَيْرِيَةَ زَوْجَةَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟ » قَالَتْ لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا عِنْدَنَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا عَظْمَ شَاةٍ أُعْطِيَتْ مَوْلَاتِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحِلَّهَا»

✧ That Juwayriyah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her and said, “Is there any food?” She said, “No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we have no food except a sheep’s bone that was given to my freedwoman from charity.” He said, “Bring it, for it has reached its destination.”

Al-Qaʿnabī narrated it from al-Layth, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd b. al-Sabbāq, from Maymūnah, from the Prophet ﷺ, and this is an error (wahm). The correct version is from ʿUbayd b. al-Sabbāq, from Juwayriyah, and we have already explained this in the hadith of Juwayriyah.

Saʿd contradicted him: they narrated it from al-Zuhrī that ʿUbayd b. al-Sabbāq heard it from Juwayriyah. Likewise Ibn ʿUyaynah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī ʿAtīq, from Mūsā b. ʿUqbah, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd b. al-Sabbāq as a mursal report. The correct view is that of those who said: from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd b. al-Sabbāq, from Juwayriyah.
