أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَرْقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُسَافِرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تَنْطَلِقُ فَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقْلِبُهَا حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ عِنْدَ بَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَسَلَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ بُعْدًا فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا إِنَّمَا هِيَ صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ» فَقَالَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَكَبُرَ عَلَيْهِمَا ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَبْلُغُ مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ مَبْلَغَ الدَّمِ وَإِنِّي خِفْتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا»

✧ She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in i'tikaf during the last ten nights of Ramadan. Then she got up to leave, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up with her to escort her. When he reached near the door of the mosque, by the door of Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, two men from the Ansar passed by and greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then they distanced themselves. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: «Slow down, she is only Safiyya bt. Huyayy.» They said: Glorified be Allah, O Messenger of Allah, and that weighed heavily on them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «Indeed Satan reaches in a person to the extent of blood, and I feared that he might cast something into your hearts.»

Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn as a mursal report (mursal), and the connected (muttaṣil) version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
