✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and spoke with him while he was in i'tikaf in the mosque. He got up with me one night to escort me to my house. Two men from the Ansar met him, and when they saw him, they felt shy and turned back. He said: «Come here, for she is Safiyya bt. Huyayy.» They said: We seek refuge in Allah. Glorified be Allah. He said: «I do not say this to you because you think ill, but I know that Satan runs through the son of Adam like blood.»

machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Maʿmar, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq and al-Jarrāḥ b. Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn, from Ṣafiyyah. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn as a mursal report (mursal), and the connected (muttaṣil) version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
