✧ Mu'awiya gave a sermon in Madinah upon his arrival there on the day of Ashura and said, "Where are your scholars, O people of Madinah? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'This is the day of Ashura, and fasting it has not been prescribed for you. I am fasting, so whoever wishes to fast, let him fast.'"
