أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ أَبُو يَعْلَى بِالْأُبُلَّةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فُلَانًا يَدْعُو وَيَذْكُرُ خَيْرًا وَيَذْكُرُ أَنَّكَ أَعْطَيْتَهُ دِينَارَيْنِ قَالَ «لَكِنْ فُلَانٌ أَعْطَيْتُهُ مَا بَيْنَ كَذَا إِلَى كَذَا فَمَا أَثْنَى وَلَا قَالَ خَيْرًا»

✧ I said to the Prophet ﷺ, "I saw so-and-so praying and mentioning good, and he mentioned that you gave him two dinars." He said, "But so-and-so — I gave him between such and such, and he neither praised nor said any good."
