أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَلَيْهِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ قَالَ
أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ شَبَبَةٌ مُتَقَارِبُونَ فَأَقَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً فَظَنَّ أَنَّا قَدِ اشْتَقْنَا أَهْلِينَا سَأَلْنَا عَمَّنْ تَرَكْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِينَا فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَحِيمًا رَفِيقًا فَقَالَ « ارْجِعُوا إِلَى أَهْلِيكُمْ فَعَلِّمُوهُمْ وَمُرُوهُمْ وَصَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي أُصَلِّي فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلْيُؤَذِّنْ أَحَدُكُمْ وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْبَرُكُمْ»

✧ We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were young men close in age. We stayed with him for twenty nights. He thought that we had missed our families, so he asked us about those we had left behind, and we told him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and gentle, so he said, 'Return to your families, teach them, command them, and pray as you have seen me praying. When the time for prayer comes, let one of you call the adhan, and let the oldest of you lead the prayer.'
