✧ The delegation of ‘Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, we are this tribe from Rabi‘a. The disbelievers of Mudar have come between us and you, and we cannot reach you except in a sacred month. So command us with a matter that we may act upon and call to it those behind us.” He said, “I command you with four: faith in Allah — the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah — establishing prayer, giving zakah, and that you give a fifth of what you gain as booty. I forbid you from gourds, glazed jars, wooden vessels, and pitch-coated vessels.”
