Ibn ʿUmar married one of his sons to a woman from his family, and the son died before consummating the marriage, without having named a dowry for her. They asked Ibn ʿUmar for the dowry, and he said: "She has no dowry." They refused to accept that, so they made Zayd b. Thābit the judge between them. They came to him, and he said: "She has no dowry."
