The Detachment of Saʿd b. Abī Waqqāṣ ᴿᴬ to Baṭn Rābigh

سِرِّيَّةُ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ؓ إِلَى بَطْنِ رَابِغٍ كَانَتْ فِي السَّنَةِ الْأُولَى مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ وَعَقَدَ لَهُ لِوَاءً أَبْيَضَ حَمَلَهُ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَهْرَانِيُّ، فِي عِشْرِينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، وَعَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَلَّا يُجَاوِزَ الْخَزَّازَ وَذَلِكَ لِيَعْتَرِضَ عِيرًا لِقُرَيْشٍ أَيْضًا، إِلَّا أَنَّ الْعِيرَ كَانَتْ قَدْ مَضَتْ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَلَمْ يَلْقَ كَيْدًا.

Translation

✧ The Detachment of Saʿd b. Abī Waqqāṣ ؓ to Baṭn Rābigh It took place in the first year of the Hijrah. He gave him a white banner, carried by al-Miqdād b. ʿAmr al-Bahrānī, with twenty of his companions. The Prophet ﷺ instructed him not to go beyond al-Khazzāz, and that was to intercept a caravan belonging to Quraysh as well, except that the caravan had already passed, so he returned to Madinah without encountering any danger.
