The story of Noah (peace be upon him)

Translation

✧ Mention of something of the reports about Nūḥ himself (peace and blessings be upon him) Allah Almighty said: Indeed he was a grateful servant [al-Isrāʾ: 3]. It was said: He used to praise Allah for his food, his drink, his clothing, and all his affairs. And on the authority of Anas b. Mālik, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed Allah is pleased with a servant who eats a meal and praises Him for it, or drinks a drink and praises Him for it. Thus also narrated Muslim, al-Tirmidhī, and al-Nasāʾī from the ḥadīth of Abū Usāmah. The evident meaning is that the grateful one is he who performs all acts of obedience—those of the heart, of speech, and of action—for gratitude consists of this and that, as the poet said: Your bounty has conferred upon me three things: my hand, my tongue, and the veiled conscience.
