The Prophet's emigration ﷺ
Translation
✧ The birth of ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zubayr in Shawwāl of the Hijrah year, so he was the first child born in Islam among the Emigrants, just as al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr was the first child born to the Anṣār after the Hijrah ؓ. Some of them claimed that Ibn al-Zubayr was born twenty months after the Hijrah. This was said by Abū al-Aswad. Al-Wāqidī narrated it from Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b. Sahl b. Abī Ḥathmah, from his father, from his grandfather. They claimed that al-Nuʿmān was born before al-Zubayr by six months, at the head of fourteen months from the Hijrah. The correct is what we presented first. Al-Bukhārī said: Zakariyyā b. Yaḥyā narrated to us, Abū Usāmah narrated to us, from Hishām b. ʿUrwah, from his father, from Asmāʾ, that she became pregnant with ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zubayr. She said: I went out while I was full-term, and I came to al-Madīnah, and I stopped at Qubāʾ and gave birth to him at Qubāʾ. Then I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he placed him in his lap, then he called for a date and chewed it, then he spat into his mouth. So the first thing that entered his belly was the saliva of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he rubbed his palate with a date, then he supplicated for him and blessed him. He was the first child born in Islam. Khālid b. Makhlad followed him up from ʿAlī b. Mushir, from Hishām, from his father, from Asmāʾ, that she emigrated to the Prophet ﷺ while she was pregnant. Qutaybah narrated to us, from Abū Usāmah, from Hishām b. ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, she said: The first child born in Islam was ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zubayr. They brought him to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ took a date and chewed it, then inserted it into his mouth. So the first thing that entered his belly was the saliva of the Prophet ﷺ. This is a proof against al-Wāqidī and others; because he mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ sent with ʿAbd Allāh b. Urayqiṭ—when he returned to Makkah—Zayd b. Ḥārithah and Abū Rāfiʿ; to bring his family and the family of Abū Bakr. They arrived with them right after the Hijrah of the Prophet ﷺ, while Asmāʾ was pregnant and full-term, i.e., near giving birth, her delivery of her child having drawn close. When she gave birth to him, the Muslims shouted a great takbīr; rejoicing at his birth, because it had reached them from the Jews that they had bewitched them, so that no child would be born to them after their Hijrah. Thus Allah proved the Jews false in what they claimed.
