The Prophet's emigration ﷺ
Translation
✧ [What was revealed of the Qur'an regarding the polytheists' lying in wait for the Prophet] Ibn Isḥāq said: Among what God, Almighty and Glorious, sent down of the Qur'an concerning that day and what they had resolved for him was: "And when those who disbelieve plot against you to restrain you, or kill you, or drive you out—they plot and God plots, and God is the best of plotters" (Q 8:30), and the saying of God, Almighty and Glorious: "Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await the misfortune of fate'? Say, 'Wait, for I am with you among those who wait'" (Q 52:30–31). Ibn Hishām said: al-manūn means death, and rayb al-manūn means the doubts and vicissitudes that come from it. Abū Dhuʾayb al-Hudhalī said: Is it at fate and its vicissitudes that you grieve, when time will not restore one who despairs? This verse is in a poem of his. Ibn Isḥāq said: God, Exalted, then gave permission to His Prophet ﷺ for the emigration.
