The Night Journey and the Ascension
ثُمَّ أَتَى عَلَى خَشَبَةٍ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ لَا يَمُرُّ بِهَا ثَوْبٌ وَلَا شَيْءٌ إِلَّا خَرَقَتْهُ. فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا يَا جِبْرِيلُ ؟ فَقَالَ: هَذَا مَثَلُ أَقْوَامٍ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ يَقْعُدُونَ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ فَيَقْطَعُونَهُ، وَتَلَا: وَلا تَقْعُدُوا بِكُلِّ صِرَاطٍ تُوعِدُونَ [الْأَعْرَافُ: 76]
Translation
✧ Then he came upon a piece of wood on the road; no garment or anything passed by it except that it tore it. He said: "What is this, O Jibrīl?" He said: "This is the likeness of peoples from your Ummah who sit on the road and cut it off." And he recited: "And do not sit on every path, threatening" [al-Aʿrāf: 76].
