✧ Mention of those born in Abyssinia to the Muslims ʿAbd Allāh, ʿAwf, and Muḥammad: the sons of Jaʿfar b. Abī Ṭālib. Saʿīd and his mother: the two children of Khālid b. Saʿīd b. al-ʿĀṣ. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Muṭṭalib, Muḥammad b. Abī Jaʿfar, Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib, Zaynab bt. Abī Salamah, Mūsā, ʿĀʾishah, and Zaynab: the children of al-Ḥārith b. Khālid. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq said: The total number of Muslims who reached the land of Abyssinia, whether their children whom they took out while young or those born there, was over eighty men [if ʿAmmār was among them; Ibn Isḥāq is uncertain about ʿAmmār. Al-Wāqidī mentioned] that they were eighty-three men, and of women eleven Qurayshī women and seven non-Qurayshī women. When they heard of the emigration of the Prophet ﷺ to Madinah, thirty-three men and eight women returned. Two men died in Makkah, seven were detained, and twenty-four men from them took part in Badr.
