Mention of some of the harm the Messenger of Allah ﷺ suffered from his people
ذِكْرُ بَعْضِ مَا لَقِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ مِنَ الْأَذَى: لَقَدْ لَقِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْأَذَى الْكَثِيرَ لَاسِيَّمَا مِنْ أَشْرَافِهِمْ وَزُعَمَائِهِمْ سَوَاءٌ كَانَ بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ أَوْ بِتَحْرِيضِهِمْ سُفَهَاءَهُمْ. وَمِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ أَذِيَّةٍ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَبُو لَهَبٍ وَزَوْجَتُهُ وَأَبُو جَهْلٍ وَالنَّضْرُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ وَالْعَاصِ بْنُ وَائِلٍ وَأُبَيُّ بْنُ خَلَفٍ وَالْأَخْنَسُ بْنُ شَرِيقٍ وَالْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، إِلَّا أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَدْ كَفَاهُ إِيَّاهُمْ فَأَمَاتَهُمْ جَمِيعًا فِي وَقْتٍ مُتَقَارِبٍ شَرَّ مِيتَةٍ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَتَلَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِنَفْسِهِ حَرْبًا وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ صَبْرًا وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَمِنْ بَعْدُ.
Translation
✧ Mention of some of the harm the Messenger of Allah ﷺ suffered from his people: The Prophet ﷺ suffered much harm from the polytheists, especially from their nobles and leaders, whether by their own hands or by inciting their fools. Among the people who harmed the Prophet ﷺ most severely were Abu Lahab and his wife, Abu Jahl, al-Naḍr b. al-Ḥārith, Umayyah b. Khalaf, ʿUqbah b. Abī Muʿayṭ, al-ʿĀṣ b. Wāʾil, Ubayy b. Khalaf, al-Akhnas b. Sharīq, and al-Walīd b. al-Mughīrah. However, Allah, may He be exalted, sufficed him against them and caused them all to die within a short period of one another in the worst manner of death. Among them were those whom the Prophet ﷺ killed himself in battle, and among them were those who were executed. Praise be to Allah before and after.
