Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors
[ كِسْرَى وَبَعْثَةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ] فَبَلَغَنِي عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كَتَبَ كِسْرَى إلَى بَاذَانَ: أَنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ خَرَجَ بِمَكَّةَ، يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ نَبِيٌّ، فَسِرْ إلَيْهِ فَاسْتَتِبْهُ، فَإِنْ تَابَ وَإِلَّا فَابْعَثْ إلَيَّ بِرَأْسِهِ. فَبَعَثَ بَاذَانُ بِكِتَابِ كِسْرَى إلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، فَكَتَبَ إلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: إنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يُقْتَلَ كِسْرَى فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا مِنْ شَهْرِ كَذَا فَلَمَّا أَتَى بَاذَانَ الْكِتَابُ تَوَقَّفَ لِيَنْظُرَ، وَقَالَ: إنْ كَانَ نَبِيًّا فَسَيَكُونُ مَا قَالَ. فَقَتَلَ اللَّهُ كِسْرَى فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: قُتِلَ عَلَى يَدَيْ ابْنِهِ شِيرَوَيْهِ، وَقَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ حِقٍّ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ: : وَكِسْرَى إذْ تَقَسَّمْهُ بَنُوهُ بِأَسْيَافٍ كَمَا اُقْتُسِمَ اللَّحَّامُ تَمَخَّضَتْ الْمَنُونُ لَهُ بِيَوْمٍ أَنَّى وَلِكُلِّ حَامِلَةٍ تِمَامُ
Translation
✧ [ Chosroes and the sending of the Prophet ﷺ ] It has reached me on the authority of al-Zuhrī that he said: Chosroes wrote to Bādhān: "It has reached me that a man of Quraysh has appeared in Makkah, claiming that he is a prophet. Go to him and demand that he repent; if he repents, then well and good; otherwise, send me his head." So Bādhān sent Chosroes' letter to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Messenger of God ﷺ wrote back to him: "God has promised me that Chosroes will be killed on such-and-such day of such-and-such month." When the letter reached Bādhān, he paused to see what would happen, and said: "If he is a prophet, then what he said will come to pass." Thus God killed Chosroes on the day the Messenger of God ﷺ had stated. Ibn Hishām said: He was killed at the hands of his son Shīrawayh. Khālid b. Ḥiqq al-Shaybānī said: : And Chosroes, when his sons divided him with swords, as butcher's meat is divided, destiny labored with him for a day — how could it be otherwise? For every pregnant woman has a full term.
