Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors
[ الْأَسْوَدُ وَاعْتِدَاؤُهُ عَلَى مَكَّةَ ] فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ أَبْرَهَةُ الْمُغَمِّسَ. بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْحَبَشَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ مَقْصُودٍ عَلَى خَيْلٍ لَهُ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إلَى مَكَّةَ، فَسَاقَ إلَيْهِ أَمْوَالَ ( أَهْلِ ) تِهَامَةَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَغَيْرِهِمْ، وَأَصَابَ فِيهَا مِائَتَيْ بَعِيرٍ لِعَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ، وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَبِيرُ قُرَيْشٍ وَسَيِّدُهَا فَهَمَّتْ قُرَيْشٌ وَكِنَانَةُ وَهُذَيْلٌ. وَمَنْ كَانَ بِذَلِكَ الْحَرَمِ ( مِنْ سَائِرِ النَّاسِ ) بِقِتَالِهِ. ثُمَّ عَرَفُوا أَنَّهُمْ لَا طَاقَةَ لَهُمْ بِهِ، فَتَرَكُوا ذَلِكَ.
Translation
✧ [Al-Aswad and His Assault on Makkah] When Abrahah encamped at al-Mughammas, he sent a man of the Abyssinians called al-Aswad b. Maqṣūd with a cavalry force of his until he reached Makkah. He drove to him the wealth of the people of Tihāmah, of Quraysh and others, and he seized among them two hundred camels belonging to ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib b. Hāshim, who at that time was the elder of Quraysh and their chief. Then Quraysh, Kinānah, Hudhayl, and those who were in that sanctuary from the rest of the people resolved to fight him. Then they realized that they had no strength against him, so they abandoned that.
