Then the year 355 AH began
وَفِيهَا عَظُمَ أَمْرُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الدَّاعِي بِالدَّيْلَمِ، وَلَبِسَ الصُّوفَ، وَأَظْهَرَ النُّسُكَ وَالْعِبَادَةَ، وَحَارَبَ ابْنَ وَشْمَكِيرَ، فَهَزَمَهُ وَعَزَمَ عَلَى الْمَسِيرِ إِلَى طَبَرِسْتَانَ، وَكَتَبَ إِلَى الْعِرَاقِ كِتَابًا يَدْعُوهُمْ فِيهِ إِلَى الْجِهَادِ.
Translation
✧ In this year the affair of Abu ʿAbd Allah al-Daʿi in al-Daylam became great. He wore wool, displayed asceticism and worship, fought Ibn Washmakir and defeated him, and resolved to march to Tabaristan. He wrote to Iraq a letter calling them to jihad.
