Then the year 354 AH began
وَفِيهَا قُتِلَ الْمُتَنَبِّي الشَّاعِرُ، وَاسْمُهُ أَبُو الطِّيِّبِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْكِنْدِيُّ، قَرِيبًا مِنَ النُّعْمَانِيَّةِ وَقُتِلَ مَعَهُ ابْنُهُ، وَكَانَ قَدْ عَادَ مِنْ عِنْدِ عَضُدِ الدَّوْلَةِ بِفَارِسَ، فَقَتَلَهُ الْأَعْرَابُ هُنَاكَ وَأَخَذُوا مَا مَعَهُ.
Translation
✧ In it al-Mutanabbi the poet was killed, and his name was Abu al-Tayyib Ahmad b. al-Husayn al-Kindi, near al-Nu'maniyyah, and his son was killed with him. He had returned from 'Adud al-Dawlah in Persia, and the Arabs killed him there and took what he had with him.
