Translation
✧ Mention of the death of the vizier Abū Muḥammad al-Muhallabī. In this year, the vizier Abū Muḥammad al-Muhallabī, vizier of Muʿizz al-Dawla, set out in Jumādā al-Ākhira with a large army to ʿAmmān to conquer it. When he reached the sea, he fell ill, and his illness became severe. He was brought back to Baghdādh, and he died on the way in Shaʿbān. His coffin was carried to Baghdādh and buried there. Muʿizz al-Dawla seized his wealth, his treasures, and everything he had, and he took his family, his companions, his attendants, even his sailor, and those who served him for a single day. He arrested them and imprisoned them. The people considered that outrageous and disapproved of it. The duration of his vizierate was thirteen years and three months. He was generous, virtuous, possessed of intellect and manliness. With his death, generosity died. After him, Abū al-Faḍl al-ʿAbbās b. al-Ḥusayn al-Shīrāzī and Abū al-Faraj Muḥammad b. al-ʿAbbās b. Fasānjas looked after the affairs without either being named to the vizierate.
