Translation
✧ Mention of Wahsūdhān's seizure of his brother's sons and their killing As for Wahsūdhān, when he saw the dissension among his brother's sons, and that each of them harbored treachery toward his companion, he corresponded with Ibrāhīm after the battle of al-Mustajīr and invited him to visit, so he visited him. His uncle honored him and bestowed upon him what filled his eye. He also wrote to Nāṣir, another son of his brother, and enticed him, so he parted from his brother Jastān and went to Mūqān. The troops found this a means to obtain money, so most of them left Jastān and went to his brother Nāṣir, who grew strong through them against his brother Jastān and seized Ardabīl. Then the soldiers demanded money from Nāṣir, but he was unable to provide it, and his uncle Wahsūdhān refrained from supporting him. He realized that he had been deceiving him, so he corresponded with his brother Jastān, and they made peace and joined together, while they were in the utmost state of scarcity of funds and disorder of affairs. The lords of the outlying regions seized what was in their hands, so Jastān and Nāṣir, the two sons of al-Marzubān, were compelled to travel to their uncle Wahsūdhān along with their mother. They corresponded with him about that and obtained pledges from him, then traveled to him. When they came into his presence, he broke his word and betrayed them, seizing them—Jastān, Nāṣir, and their mother—and took control of the army. He conferred the emirate upon his son Ismāʿīl and handed over to him most of his fortresses. He brought out the money and satisfied the troops. Ibrāhīm b. al-Marzubān had set out for Armenia, and he prepared to contend with Ismāʿīl and to rescue his two brothers from the prison of their uncle Wahsūdhān. When Wahsūdhān learned of that and saw the people gathering around him, he hastened and killed Jastān and Nāṣir, the two sons of his brother, and their mother. He wrote to Jastān b. Sharmazan and requested that he aim for Ibrāhīm, supplying him with troops and money, and he did so. Ibrāhīm was compelled to flee and return to Armenia, and Ibn Sharmazan took control of his army and the city of Marāgha together with Urmiya.
