Then the year 345 AH began
فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ وَقَعَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ بِأَصْبَهَانَ بَيْنَ أَهْلِهَا وَبَيْنَ أَهْلِ قُمَّ بِسَبَبِ الْمَذَاهِبِ، وَكَانَ سَبَبُهَا أَنَّهُ قِيلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قُمِّيٍّ إِنَّهُ سَبَّ بَعْضَ الصَّحَابَةِ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ شِحْنَةِ أَصْبَهَانَ، فَثَارَ أَهْلُهَا، وَاسْتَغَاثُوا بِأَهْلِ السَّوَادِ، فَاجْتَمَعُوا فِي خَلْقٍ لَا يُحْصَوْنَ كَثْرَةً، وَحَضَرُوا دَارَ الشِّحْنَةِ، وَقُتِلَ بَيْنَهُمْ قَتْلَى، وَنَهَبَ أَهْلُ أَصْبَهَانَ أَمْوَالَ التُّجَّارِ مَنْ أَهْلِ قُمَّ، فَبَلَغَ الْخَبَرُ رُكْنَ الدَّوْلَةِ، فَغَضِبَ لِذَلِكَ وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَطَرَحَ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا مَالًا كَثِيرًا.
Translation
✧ In this year the strife occurred in Isfahan between its people and the people of Qumm on account of the schools of law. Its cause was that it was said of a man of Qumm that he had reviled some of the Companions, and he was one of the associates of the prefect of Isfahan. Its people rose up and sought aid from the people of the Sawād, and they gathered in a multitude whose number could not be counted. They came to the prefect's residence, and some were slain among them. The people of Isfahan plundered the merchants' wealth belonging to the people of Qumm. The news reached Rukn al-Dawlah, and he was angered at that and sent to it, imposing upon its people a great sum of money.
