Then the year 345 AH began
وَفِيهَا زُلْزِلَتْ هَمَذَانُ زِلْزَالًا شَدِيدًا، انْهَدَمَتِ الْبُيُوتُ، وَانْشَقَّ قَصْرُ شِيرِينَ بِصَاعِقَةٍ، وَمَاتَ تَحْتَ الْهَدْمِ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ لَا يُحْصَوْنَ كَثْرَةً، فَإِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ.
Translation
✧ In it Hamadhān was shaken by a severe earthquake; houses collapsed, and the palace of Shīrīn was split by a thunderbolt, and many people died under the rubble, too numerous to count. 'To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.'
