Then the year 342 AH began
Translation
✧ In this year, the two Sharifs, Abu al-Hasan Muhammad b. 'Abd Allah and Abu 'Abd Allah Ahmad b. 'Umar b. Yahya, both 'Alawis, led the pilgrims. A fierce battle took place between them and the Egyptian forces of the companions of Ibn Tughj, and victory was theirs. Then the khutbah was delivered for Mu'izz al-Dawlah in Makkah. When they departed from Makkah, the Egyptian army caught up with them and fought them, but they were victorious over it as well.
