Then the year 337 AH began
وَفِيهَا قَبَضَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ عَلَى أَسْفَهْدُوَسْتَ، وَهُوَ خَالُ مُعِزِّ الدَّوْلَةِ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَكَابِرِ قُوَّادِهِ، وَأَقْرَبِ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ. وَكَانَ سَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُكْثِرُ الدَّالَّةَ عَلَيْهِ، وَيَعِيبُهُ فِي كَثِيرٍ مِنْ أَفْعَالِهِ، وَنُقِلَ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ ( كَانَ ) يُرَاسِلُ الْمُطِيعَ لِلَّهِ فِي قَتْلِ مُعِزِّ الدَّوْلَةِ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ، وَسَيَّرَهُ إِلَى رَامَهُرْمُزَ فَسَجَنَهُ بِهَا.
Translation
✧ In this year Muʿizz al-Dawlah arrested Asfahdūst, who was the maternal uncle of Muʿizz al-Dawlah. He was one of his greatest commanders and the closest of people to him. The reason for that was that he used to behave overly familiarly with him and criticize him regarding many of his actions. It was reported from him that he used to correspond with al-Muṭīʿ li-llāh concerning the killing of Muʿizz al-Dawlah. So he arrested him and sent him to Rāmahurmuz, where he imprisoned him.
