Translation

✧ Then the year 337 AH began Mention of Muʿizz al-Dawlah's taking possession of Mosul and his return from it In this year, Muʿizz al-Dawlah marched from Baghdad to Mosul, aiming for Nāṣir al-Dawlah. When Nāṣir al-Dawlah heard of that, he marched from Mosul to Naṣībīn, and Muʿizz al-Dawlah arrived and took possession of Mosul in the month of Ramaḍān. He wronged its people and treated them harshly, and he took the wealth of the subjects, and supplications against him became many. Muʿizz al-Dawlah wanted to take possession of all the lands of Nāṣir al-Dawlah, but news came to him from his brother Rukn al-Dawlah that the armies of Khurāsān had aimed for Jurjān and al-Rayy, and he was seeking his aid and requesting troops from him. So he was compelled to make peace with Nāṣir al-Dawlah. Messengers went back and forth between them regarding that, and peace was settled between them on the condition that Nāṣir al-Dawlah would pay for Mosul, all the lands of al-Jazīrah, and Syria, every year, eight thousand thousand dirhams, and that he would make the khuṭbah in his lands for ʿImād al-Dawlah, Rukn al-Dawlah, and Muʿizz al-Dawlah, the Banū Buwayh. When peace was settled, Muʿizz al-Dawlah returned to Baghdad and entered it in Dhū al-Ḥijjah of the year.
