Then the year 333 AH began
وَفِيهَا فِي رَجَبٍ سَارَ تُوزُونُ وَمَعَهُ الْمُسْتَكْفِي بِاللَّهِ مِنْ بَغْدَاذَ يُرِيدَانِ الْمَوْصِلَ ، وَقَصَدَ نَاصِرَ الدَّوْلَةِ ; لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ قَدْ أَخَّرَ حَمْلَ الْمَالِ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ مِنْ ضَمَانِ الْبِلَادِ، وَاسْتَخْدَمَ غِلْمَانًا هَرَبُوا مِنْ تُوزُونَ، وَكَانَ الشَّرْطُ بَيْنَهُمْ أَنَّهُ لَا يَقْبَلُ أَحَدًا مِنْ عَسْكَرِ تُوزُونَ. فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ الْخَلِيفَةُ وَتُوزُونُ مِنْ بَغْدَاذَ، تَرَدَّدَتِ الرُّسُلُ فِي الصُّلْحِ، وَتَوَسَّطَ أَبُو جَعْفَرِ بْنُ شَيْرَزَادَ الْأَمْرَ، وَانْقَادَ نَاصِرُ الدَّوْلَةِ لِحَمْلِ الْمَالِ، وَكَانَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ كَاتِبُ نَاصِرِ الدَّوْلَةِ هُوَ الرَّسُولُ فِي ذَلِكَ، وَلَمَّا تَقَرَّرَ الصُّلْحُ عَادَ الْمُسْتَكْفِي وَتُوزُونُ فَدَخَلَا بَغْدَاذَ.
Translation
✧ In it, in Rajab, Tūzūn marched, accompanied by al-Mustakfī bi-llāh, from Baghdād, intending [to go to] al-Mawṣil, and he aimed at Nāṣir al-Dawlah because he had delayed conveying the money that was incumbent upon him for the guarantee of the lands, and he had employed ghilmān who had fled from Tūzūn, while the condition between them was that he would not accept anyone from Tūzūn's army. When the Caliph and Tūzūn departed from Baghdād, messengers went back and forth regarding peace, and Abū Jaʿfar b. Shīrzād mediated the matter, and Nāṣir al-Dawlah submitted to conveying the money. Abū al-Qāsim b. Mukram, the secretary of Nāṣir al-Dawlah, was the messenger in that affair. When the peace was settled, al-Mustakfī and Tūzūn returned and entered Baghdād.
