Translation
✧ In this year, on the eighth of Jumādā al-Ūlā, al-Mustakfī bi’llāh arrested his secretary Abū ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Sulaymān and his brother, and appointed Abū Aḥmad al-Faḍl b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Shīrāzī as secretary over his private affairs. Abū Aḥmad, when al-Mustakfī assumed the caliphate in al-Mawṣil, had been writing for Nāṣir al-Dawlah. When news of his assumption of the caliphate reached him, he went down to Baghdādh, because he had served al-Mustakfī bi’llāh and written for him while he was in the house of Ibn Ṭāhir.
