Translation

✧ Mention of the killing of Abu al-Husayn al-Baridi and his burning In this year, in Rabi' al-Awwal, Abu al-Husayn al-Baridi came to Baghdad seeking safety from Tuzun, who granted him security. Abu Ja'far b. Shirazad lodged him beside his own house and honored him. He asked to strengthen his hand against his nephew and guaranteed that if he took Basra, he would deliver to him much wealth. They promised him aid and assistance, but his nephew sent from Basra much wealth (with which he served) Tuzun and Ibn Shirazad, so they sent him robes of honor and confirmed him in his office. When Abu al-Husayn learned of that, he worked to have himself appointed for Tuzun and to seize Ibn Shirazad. Ibn Shirazad learned of that, so he worked against him until he was seized, shackled, and beaten severely. Abu 'Abd Allah b. Abi Musa al-Hashimi had, during the days of Nasir al-Dawla, obtained the fatwas of the jurists and judges declaring his blood lawful, so he brought them, and he brought the judges and jurists into the caliph's palace. Abu al-Husayn was brought out, and the jurists were asked about the fatwas. They acknowledged that they had given those rulings, so he ordered that his neck be struck. He was killed and crucified, then taken down and burned, and his house was plundered. This was the last affair of the Baridis. His killing was in the middle of Dhu al-Hijjah.
