Then the year 332 AH began
ذِكْرُ مُرَاسَلَةِ الْمُتَّقِي تُوزُونَ فِي الْعَوْدِ وَفِيهَا أَرْسَلَ الْمُتَّقِي لِلَّهِ إِلَى تُوزُونَ يَطْلُبُ [ مِنْهُ ] الْعَوْدَ إِلَى بَغْدَاذَ. وَسَبَبُ ذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى مِنْ بَنِي حَمْدَانَ تَضَجُّرًا بِهِ وَإِيثَارَ الْمُفَارَقَةِ، فَاضْطُرَّ إِلَى مُرَاسَلَةِ تُوزُونَ، فَأَرْسَلَ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ هَارُونَ وَأَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي مُوسَى الْهَاشِمِيَّ إِلَيْهِ فِي الصُّلْحِ، فَلَقِيَهُمَا تُوزُونُ وَابْنُ شَيْرَزَادَ بِنِهَايَةِ الرَّغْبَةِ فِيهِ وَالْحِرْصِ عَلَيْهِ، فَاسْتَوْثَقَا مِنْ تُوزُونَ وَحَلَّفَاهُ لِلْمُتَّقِي لِلَّهِ، وَأَحْضَرَ لِلْيَمِينِ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْقُضَاةِ، وَالْعُدُولِ، وَالْعَبَّاسِيِّينَ، وَالْعَلَوِيِّينَ، وَغَيْرِهِمْ مِنْ أَصْنَافِ النَّاسِ، وَحَلَفَ تُوزُونُ لِلْمُتَّقِي وَالْوَزِيرِ، وَكَتَبُوا خُطُوطَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُتَّقِي لِلَّهِ مَا نَذْكُرُهُ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the correspondence of al-Muttaqī with Tūzūn regarding the return In it, al-Muttaqī lillāh sent to Tūzūn seeking [from him] the return to Baghdādh. The reason for that was that he perceived from the Banū Ḥamdān vexation with him and a preference for separation, so he was compelled to correspond with Tūzūn. Thus he sent al-Ḥasan b. Hārūn and Abū ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Mūsā al-Hāshimī to him regarding reconciliation. Tūzūn and Ibn Shīrzād met them with the utmost desire for it and eagerness for it. So they obtained assurances from Tūzūn and made him swear an oath to al-Muttaqī lillāh. And he brought for the oath a great many people, including judges, notaries, ʿAbbāsids, ʿAlids, and others from the various classes of people. And Tūzūn swore an oath to al-Muttaqī and the vizier, and they wrote their attestations to that effect. And concerning the affair of al-Muttaqī lillāh, there was what we shall mention in the year 333.
